Event Details

I am bringing my show to the Mercury Theatre as part of the Colchester Fringe Festival in October and wanted to tell people about it. It is my first time performing in Essex and I haven’t brought new work to the UK since 2019 (I am English but I live & create in Berlin) – so it is an exciting moment for me. I would love to have the opportunity to connect with the people of Colchester and share my work with them.

The show is a multidisciplinary piece – dance theatre, spoken word, clown – quite experimental, and VERY fringe! It is called En Dewh*re, and it is about ballet, bodies and belonging. It explores themes about beauty standards, body autonomy, oversexualisation and fatphobia.  But really it is a celebration of all bodies dancing and a rallying cry to return to our physical selves, live an embodied life and connect! It is not just a show for dance lovers but anyone who has a body and is trying to exist in the world.

The piece also includes a rather marvellous costume made of boobs – silly, surreal and maybe something a bit different for the people of Essex. I am collaborating with students from the town’s very own Colchester Institute and I just think it’s going to be a very fun, cool experience that I would love the people to know about.
